Dancing at the Winners Circle at the Holiday Inn at Grantville, PA –

Dancing at the Winners Circle at the Holiday Inn at Grantville, Pa- Exit 80 (old 28) off of I-81, Rt. north of Hershey 717 469-0661. Every Monday evening one hour lesson from 7- 8pm with open dancing from Country to Ballroom and a little swing thrown it for flavor. Every Sunday evening, a couples lesson from 7-7:30 PM – line dance from 7:30- 8pm. Every Thursday evenings a lesson is taught 7- 8pm with a live country band afterwards.

The CIVIL  WAR  ERA  DANCING” – Gettysburg  Civil  War  Dance; Village Hall, 108 West Main Street, Fairfield, PA; Informal Dances with Recorded Music; 7:30 to 10:00 P.M.; Briant and Karin Bohleke , Dance Master and Mistress; Organizers Norma Calhoun and Wayne Belt invite you to participate in the 19th year of Victorian dancing in Fairfield.  Each monthly dance is an enjoyable social occasion focused on learning the dances and etiquette of the Civil War era.  The dance master and mistress will demonstrate and call each dance.  Elegant dancers and excellent teachers, they enjoy sharing their authentic reconstructions of period dances from original sources.  The informal dances will prepare participants for dancing at the balls in this region. All levels of dancers can participate.

*For the May dance, we encourage (but not require) informal period attire. For the January and March dances, wear modern casual clothes or informal period attire. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes with flexible soles. We discourage wearing sandals, slides, and rubber-soled athletic shoes.  Metal heel plates are not allowed on the dance floor.; Light refreshments will be served.  The cost is $10 per person, payable at the door.; Fairfield is located about 8 miles southwest of Gettysburg on PA Route 116.   The Village Hall is in the middle of Fairfield on PA Route 116/Main Street, across the street from Metz Hardware. A Tribute to the Golden Age of Big Bands – Valencia Ballroom  – 142 N George St, York, PA

9:00 a.m. to 11:50 p.m.; $50 pp; Description: It’s Swing Time again in York, Pennsylvania, and we’re bringing it back with style. After being closed for several years, York’s historic Valencia Ballroom has reopened under new management. One of just a half dozen grand ballrooms from the big band era, the Valencia looks marvelous. Everything is being cleaned, shined, polished, and restored to its original art deco grandeur. Many planned upgrades are in the works already or planned for the spring. With its fully spring loaded, 4000 foot dance floor, the ballroom has been called the best dance venue east of the Mississippi River. The Valencia has played host to a huge list of musical talent, Every major big band performed there, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Kay Kyser, Tommy Dorsey, Les Brown, and the list goes on. During an appearance by the Dorsey band, the Valencia stage was also graced by Buddy Rich, and by Dorsey’s young and upcoming vocalist Frank Sinatra. Big band era history fills every corner of this magnificent building, which also holds the distinction of being the first major ballroom to be air conditioned. The last major big band event at the Valencia was held on New Years Eve 2013, hosted by the Unforgettable Big Band and the York Social Dance Studio.

On Saturday, April 22, 2017, we are bringing back the fun and excitement of the big band years to the Valencia once again. This will be an ALL DAY EVENT, featuring SIX BIG BANDS, with the music kicking off at 9:30 AM, and rolling on until midnight. There will be swing dance demonstrations and workshops throughout the day, featuring the York Social Dance Studio, as well as the Hub City Swing Dance Club, and more. There will be swinging DJs covering the band breaks and stage change times, but mostly, there will be lots and lots of live big band music to appeal to music lovers and

dancers young and old.

We are pleased and honored to welcome the following big bands:

Reisterstown Jazz Ensemble Inc.; M&J Big Band; Gettysburg Big Band; Glass City Swing Band;  Powerhouse Big Band; who will join the Unforgettable Big Band to keep the joint jumping all day long, as each band will be presenting two swinging hours of great music.

Dance demonstrations and workshops will be ongoing throughout the day, presented by York Social Dance Studio, Hub City Lindy Hop, and more.

So, spread the word. Early bird tickets will go on sale on December 1, and we will roll with early bird pricing through the end of 2016. Join us as we welcome the Valencia back from the threat of extinction, and throw back York to the days when the music and the dancing set the tempo and the mood for the era.

Tickets will be sold as two sessions, as well as full day passes, and attendees will be provided with colored armbands at check in for identification. The first session runs from 9:00 AM and runs until 4:30 PM, and the second session begins at 4:30 PM and runs through midnight. Each session includes 3 big bands performing two hours each. The full day pass includes admission to both sessions.
